Frequently Asked Questions

What is a typical therapy session like?

Sessions are a space for you to talk openly about what you’re experiencing, without judgment. We’ll explore patterns, process emotions, and work toward practical strategies for change. Some sessions are more reflective, while others are more structured and skills-based, depending on your needs.

Why should I consider therapy?

Therapy can help you better understand yourself, process difficult experiences, and develop healthier ways of coping. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected and leave with greater clarity, confidence, and direction.

What services do you offer?

I offer individual therapy for adults and elders, with a focus on:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Self-esteem and identity work
  • Life transitions
  • Somatic and mindfulness techniques, including tapping (EFT)
What is tapping (EFT)?

Tapping, or Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), is a mind-body approach that combines gentle tapping on specific points of the body with focused attention on thoughts or emotions. It can help reduce anxiety, process trauma, and shift emotional responses in a way that feels more manageable and grounded.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept a large selection of insurance plans. Coverage can vary, so I recommend checking with your provider to understand your benefits, including copays, deductibles, and session limits. I am credentialed with the insurance companies listed here.

What are your rates?

Private pay rates are available upon request. If you plan to use insurance, your cost will depend on your individual plan. I’m happy to help you understand your options before getting started.

Do you offer Telehealth sessions?

Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant Telehealth sessions so you can attend therapy from the comfort of your home or office. Please note that you must be physically located in Virginia at the time of each session.

What do I need for a Telehealth session?

You’ll need:

  • A private, quiet space
  • A reliable internet connection
  • A phone, tablet, or computer with video capability

That’s it — simple and accessible.

Where are you located?

I am based in Virginia and provide Telehealth services for clients located in Virginia.

What is your cancellation policy?

Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 48 hours in advance. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee, as that time is reserved specifically for you.

How do I get started?

You can get started by reaching out through my website contact form or scheduling a consultation. From there, we’ll determine the best path forward and get your first session scheduled.

I don’t think I need therapy. Can I do coaching instead?

Absolutely. Coaching is a great fit if you’re looking to focus on goals, performance, mindset, or personal development rather than processing clinical mental health concerns. Feel free to take a look at my Coaching site to see what is currently being offered. If you’re unsure, I can help guide you to the right fit.

Can I do coaching if I’m already a therapy client?

Therapy and coaching serve different purposes and are not offered simultaneously. If you’re currently in therapy, we’ll continue in that role. If your goals change and coaching becomes a better fit, we can discuss transitioning at the appropriate time.
